Travel Adapter

A travel adapter to me is like blood pressure tablets, I must have it or I cannot function. If you are like me and travel a lot and where your laptop is like another part of your body then you need to have a travel adapter. There are three important versions, the American, The UK and The European, all with different pins.

One of the best parts about my job is that I get to do a lot of international traveling. Some people wouldn't like being away from home for so many weeks out of the year, but since I don't have a family, it doesn't bother me in the least.

In fact, I view this kind of traveling as a major perk that allows me to enjoy a lot of exotic cities in style. Of course, I still have to get some actual work done while I'm away, which means that I always have to have my laptop and a travel adapter with me.

I'll admit that the first time I attended a meeting on a different continent, I had no idea that I would need a travel adapter for my electronic items.

So you can imagine my embarrassment when my laptop battery went out right in the middle of an important meeting and I couldn't get the power supply cord to work in the European outlet.

Fortunately, my hosts were used to encountering this kind of problem with the overseas clients they entertained, so they had a spare travel adapter on hand for me to use. After that incident, I figured I had better buy travel adapters for every continent that I was likely to visit on business.

Of course, I had no way of knowing off hand which countries would require the use of a travel adapter and which ones wouldn't. That meant I would have to get online to do some research into the subject.

I made a list of all the countries that members of my firm routinely visit, then checked out their electricity standards. After about an hour, I had a very good idea about travel adapter requirements around the globe. My next step was to purchase some travel adapters that would fit my needs in each of these countries.

As I started shopping around for travel adapters, I realized that instead of purchasing a separate product for each different country, I could instead buy a universal travel adapter that would work in all countries. A universal travel adapter was more expensive than a standard country-specific one, but it would be a lot more convenient for me in the long run.

For example, I wouldn't have to worry about bringing the wrong travel adapter on a particular trip or anything like that. After browsing through a few websites for the best prices, I found a fantastic deal on a universal travel adapter and bought it on the spot.

Now I know that I can use my laptop and other electronic equipment no matter where my next business trip sends me. I keep my travel adapter in my carry-on bag and never board a plane without it. It's a good feeling to know that I'll be as productive in Europe, Asia, or South America as I am right here at home!
